Happy 11th birthday, Joey!

Happy 11th birthday, Joey!  We went to Outback for dinner and had dessert back at the house.  Joey got a Nerf Go-Pro camera, a new bike helmet, and a Nerf gun.

Mother's Day, Seaside Heights

It rained a little on Saturday but cleared up on Sunday.  No crowds, just fun on the boardwalk and beach with Danielle and the boys.

Funny conversation

Danielle:  Ryan, you can't watch YouTube videos unless you have an adult with you.
Ryan:  (Hysterically crying) But mommy, I don't have an adult.
Danielle:  Do you know what an adult is?
Ryan:  No.

Shooting

Two boxes of shells and 60 clay birds equals one happy 13 year-old.  Michael shot a gun for the first time on Saturday.  Afterwards, grandpa taught him how to strip a gun and clean it.

Nice shot, Michael!

Nice goal by Michael at the Roxbury vs. Rockaway game on Friday night.  Roxbury won.

Karate

Following in the footsteps of his older brother, Ryan decided to put on a Karate Gi and step on the mat at New Jersey Martial Arts Academy.  We're so proud of him.

Happy Halloween 2014

We picked our pumpkins at Ashley's Farm in Flanders this year.

First day of school 2014

Three different schools, three different busses, three different times.  This is going to be an interesting year.

Who's taller?

Yep, I think Michael is finally taller than my wife.

Ryan's first fishing trip

It was a big day for Ryan...he went through a Fishing Rite of Passage for all Kovach boys.  We took him to buy a REAL fishing pole, taught him how to cast a Hot Wheels car in the back yard, and brought him to Horseshoe Lake to catch some fish.  He got the first bite of the day.

Mother's Day

The boys and I made ceramic mugs and a book bag for Danielle.  The weather was nice so we went to the park for lunch and we grilled chicken for dinner.

Photography Contest

Danielle and I went to Joey and Ryan's school for a meeting.  While in the main office, I took this picture of two photographs hanging on the wall.  One is Michael's and the other is Joey's.  Both photographs won awards for creativity in a yearly contest sponsored by the school district (the theme for the top picture was recycling, and the theme for the bottom picture was diversity).  It made me proud to see both pictures hanging there.

13th Birthday

Guess who officially turned into a teenager in January?  Michael had a list of movies he's been waiting to see... and all of them were rated PG-13.

Skate with the Devils

Michael and I went to a "Skate with the Devils" event.  We met their Goalie, Martin Brodeur, and lots of other players.  I was surprised at how down-to-earth they were.  The players we met were happy to talk with us, and they seemed humbled by the fact that we wanted their picture.

Record snow 2014

We had a record snowfall this season - we haven't seen grass since December.  This shopping cart at the Ledgewood Mall looks like it got stuck in a glacier.  Michael mentioned to me yesterday that he can't wait to bring out the baseball and gloves so we can play catch in the yard.  Hopefully spring is right around the corner.

Michael and Joey Do Some Landscaping

John Miller from Miller Diesel Service brought his tow truck down to Roxbury Fire Station 1 last night so we could pull some bushes out with his winch.  After some brief instructions, John handed the controls over to Michael and Joey and let them do the work.  Both boys had smiles from ear to ear!
